Visit Linh Phuoc Pagoda

The Linh Phuoc Pagoda is also know as a Ve Chai Pagoda. It’s built in mosaic style mainly from colorful glass and porcelain which glitters in th sun. There is a huge bell hanging 38 meters above the ground – the heaviest bell in Vietnam weighting 8.5 tons. Almost every visitor puts a small sticker on it with a written wish, then hits the bell three times for sending the wish to Buddha. 🙂

What’s even more interesting, mosaics on the pagoda walls tells different stories. On the top mosaics shows the history of Shakyamuni and the histories of the Lotus Sutras. The Linh Phuoc Pagoda was built in 1949 and it took almost 12 years to finish it. Besides vivid i colorful mosaics many tourist come to Linh Phuoc to see the women Buddha statue. It is made out of over 650 thousands immortal flowers and weights about 3 tones! The statue is 17 metres high and is considered to be the largest flower Buddha statue in entire Asia.

There is a lot of symbolism in architecture and details of Linh Phuoc. For example, not everyone know that beneath the tower, there is a tunnel system! It is supposed to imitate the 18 levels of hell.

If you plan to see the beautiful Linh Phuoc Pagoda, use the local transport from center of Dalat. See the article: www.freestyletraveling.com/dalat-vietnam/. When you’re done visiting just return to the main road and wait for a small local bus with a sign Dalat in front and wave, it will stop to pick you up. Remember to do it before 4 pm.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about traveling to Dalat or Vietnam! I’d be happy to answer them and help you with any problem or difficulties.
