The best restaurants in Ubud - Coffee Club Bali

Ubud has long been recognised as the cultural, spiritual, and artistic heart of Bali, and it has quickly become a beloved tourist destination. Evolving from a local healing centre into a wellness, art, and nature hub. The crowds also brought a bad reputation for the region, which has become overtouristy and lost its original charm. Luckily, the magic of Ubud is still there, and I’m going to show you all of its highlights by following the best restaurants in Ubud.

The best restaurants in Ubud.

1. This is Bali.

I got to put ‘This is Bali’ at the top of my list of the best restaurants in Ubud – as this place not only serves an amazing cuisine, but it’s also run by lovely people! You’ve got to go there at least once during your stay! Food is exceptional, design is magic.

It’s located in the centre of Ubud, the place offers authentic Balinese food and desserts.

TOP PICK: All! Real Balinese Bowl.

PRICE: 4-10USD.

2. Coffee Club Bali

One of the most amazing places I’ve discovered in whole Bali – Coffee Club Bali is a magical place with amazing pools facing the spectacular natural wonder of Tegalalang Rice Terraces. You can go there for a relaxing pool day followed by a short hike along one of the most beautiful rice terraces.

The place is located in a village called Tegallalang, Gianyar, max. 10 minutes north of Ubud.

You can enjoy these 5-star facilities along with your meal order. I went there a couple of times during my one-month stay in Ubud and every time the food was delicious.

TOP PICK: Grilled fish, fresh fruit shakes and desserts are top-class.

Price: Main dishes are approx. $15.

Here is a few-dollar deal: Access to Caffee Club Bali, soft drink and entrance to rice terraces and swimming pool.

3. Natah Ubud Restaurant.

This place is definitely one of the nicest and best restaurants in Ubud, with great atmosphere and nice staff, serving authentic Balinese and Indonesian delicacies, as well as international dishes.

The place presents a wonderful design and offers a one-of-a-kind culinary experience where guests are welcomed like family.

TOP PICK: Bungan Natah – vegan option. But meat lovers would be delighted with the menu.

PRICE: 4-10 USD.

4. Tropical Restaurant Ubud.

Located at the main crossroad in Ubud, I wanted to try, but I don’t recommend it. Nice spot, nice garden, but I would never go back. Grilled fish was ok, but there are so many wonderful, delicious restaurants around, it’s not worth eating there.

5. Cintra Grill.

I went there twice, and it was delicious, definitely one of the top restaurants in Ubud. Lovely food – mostly burgers, healthy eats and very nice drinks as I heard.. It’s a cosy restaurant with a really nice staff.

TOP PICK: Fish burger.

PRICE: approx. 10USD.

6. Black Eye Coffee Ubud.

One of the most famous coffee corners is located near the main crossroad in Ubud – Black Eye Luwak Coffee & Eatery is a lovely coffee shop & eatery.

The place is a bit pricy but the food is beautifully served and very tasty. There are also plenty of types of coffee in case you want to bring some back home.

7. Hujan Locale - a taste of tradition.

Hujan Locale is a modern Indonesian restaurant, offering dishes inspired by regional flavours.

This is where tradition meets innovation and the menu is a tribute to Indonesian cuisine, making it one of the most interesting restaurants in Ubud.

The restaurant’s elegant setting makes it ideal for a romantic evening or a sophisticated gathering.

Cooking classes in Ubud.

Ubud is a gastronomic playground, so let’s hop into a culinary cooking experience. Some say the cooking classes in Bali were one of the best experiences ever.

Many classes are held in the homes of local Balinese families, allowing participants to learn about everyday life, customs, and spiritual traditions, which makes it a beautiful and authentic experience.

As Ubud has a reputation for being a healthy eating hub, many classes specialise in excellent plant-based cooking classes.

Local food.

If you are staying long-term in Bali, ordering Uber Eats becomes your routine. Although most of the places serve breakfast, Uber Eats offers delicious and nutritious options delivered to your garden or terrace. My top pick is always a yoghurt with fresh fruit. For lunch, it’s always a choice of local cuisine, tofu, greens and or grilled seitan.

Culinary adventure in the heart of Bali.

Here are a few more of the best restaurants in Ubud, a bit pricier but with great food:

  • Kuwarasan Restaurant
  • Arcadia Restaurant Ubud
  • Ambar Ubud Bar – I highly recommend going at least once. It’s located in the jungles of Ubud, serving one of the best Japanese cuisines I’ve tried (outside of Japan 😉 ).
