Best beaches in Corfu Greece

Corfu Island in the Ionian Sea turned out to be much more adventurous than I ever thought. First of all, most of the beach spots will leave you breathless – they combine stunning landscapes with turquoise water and thrilling activities. Let me take you on a personal tour of the best beaches in Corfu + essential insider tips, which are crucial for this destination. 💙

Best beaches in Corfu!

My list consists of the most spectacular beaches of Corfu, each stunning and exceptional in every way. But before diving into these crystal clear waters, check carefully the ‘Beach essentials for Corfu’ that you’d better pack to stay comfortable, safe and make the most of your beach days. Many visitors don’t realise that several of the best beaches in Corfu are pebbly rather than sandy.

Beach Essentials for Corfu.

1. Water Shoes (Highly Recommended)!

Generally speaking – water shoes for Corfu are not negotiable for 2 reasons:

1. Sea urchins – the spiny creatures often live among rocks and in shallow, clear waters around secluded coves and snorkeling spots.

2. Stony beaches – most of the best beaches in Corfu are rocky!

2. Snorkeling Gear.

Corfu’s crystal-clear waters and rocky coastlines make snorkeling one of the best activities on the island.

We spotted: Colourful fish and scary creatures ;))) Octopuses and Sea stars!

3. Reef-Safe Sunscreen.

The Ionian sun is stronger than many visitors expect, especially between June and September.

  • SPF min. 50
  • Water-resistant formula
  • Reef-safe ingredients!

4. Dry Bag – A waterproof dry bag is especially useful when visiting Corfu’s secluded coves by boat or kayak.

  • Phone
  • Camera
  • Wallet

1. Cape Drastis - Greece’s Wild Western Edge of White Cliffs.

At the far northwestern tip of Corfu lies one of the most dramatic landscapes of the island: Cape Drastis. Unlike the island’s organised beaches and lively resorts, this is where nature takes full control.

Cape Drastis is one of the most spectacular spots and hiking trails in Corfu, with a magnificent viewpoint.

There’s no sand, only layers of soft limestone, where you can enjoy the sun, swim and snorkel.

There are no beach bars, no sunbed rows, no music. Just wind, sea, and silence.

Parking: along the road, drive till the end of the road, there’s a 10-minute walk from there along the panoramic view of the white cliffs. Might get busy in high season.

Hiking tip: There’s a possibility to hike till the end of the white cliff, in the middle of the main leading toward the sea, turn left and follow a tiny trail.

My rate: 10/10!

2. La Grotta Bar.

La Grotta Bar is not a traditional beach—but it has become one of the most iconic coastal experiences in Corfu.

Built directly into the cliffs, this bar combines dramatic sea access, diving platforms, and sunset cocktails in a setting that feels more like a Mediterranean secret than a tourist spot.

Although La Grotta is a bar, it functions like a natural swimming cove experience. There are:

  • 20 sunbeds
  • carved rock platforms with tables above crystal-clear water
  • boat platform
  • deep water perfect for swimming
  • dramatic cliff scenery on all sides

The place is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Corfu for sunsets!

The water is extremely clear and ideal for:

  • swimming
  • snorkeling around rocks
  • jumping from designated platforms (only where safe).

Late afternoon is when La Grotta comes alive:

  • chill lounge music
  • golden light hitting the cliffs
  • sunset views over the Ionian Sea

La Grotta Bar: Great atmosphere, food and lovely drinks. Entrance is free, drinks ~ 10 Euros. The place might get crowded in high season.

Parking: Along the main road, tiny stairs take you down to the bar.

My rate: 10/10.

3. Agia Triada Beach.

Agia Triada Beach is one of the most scenic and accessible beaches on Corfu’s west coast.

Unlike some of Corfu’s remote beaches, you’ll find facilities, boat rentals, and beach bars nearby while still enjoying the area’s famous crystal-clear sea.

What to expect:

  • Great for snorkelling closer to the rocks (we swam and snorkel and it was beautiful!)
  • Sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and beach bars
  • Really nice restaurant
  • Spectacular views of the dramatic west coast cliffs.

The beach is located a few minutes’ walk from the La Grotta Bar.

Parking: along the main road.

My rate: 8/10

4. Canal d'Amour (Kanali tou Erota).

Located in the charming village of Sidari (north-west part of Corfu), Canal d’Amour is a must-see. Its unique sandstone formations and crystal-clear waters are legendary.

Travel Tips:

  • Parking: There’s free parking near the entrance, but be ready for a bit of a walk.

  • It’s beautiful, but also busy.

  • What to expect:

    • narrow rock platforms
    • small sandy pockets
    • people sunbathing on cliffs

Bring a towel or mat you don’t mind placing on rocks.

My rate: 8/10.

Best Beaches in Corfu

5. Paleokastritsa Beach.

Paleokastritsa Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Corfu. This spot is a diver’s paradise, where you can explore marine life and intriguing rock formations.

It’s a white sandy beach and great for water sports.

Nearby attractions: Nausicaa’s Cave and the famous Blue Caves. The monastery is a 15-minute walk away.

Personal Tips:

  • Parking: Trust me, you’ll want to get here early as parking fills up fast, especially in peak season.

  • Local Bars: A few lovely beach bars and restaurants are available in the area where you can relax and have lunch.

My rate: 8/10 over touristy compared to other stunning beaches.

6. Agios Petros Beach - stunning paradise.

Agios Petros Beach offers a completely different experience from the dramatic cliffs of Paleokastritsa or the busy shores of Sidari.

With its shallow turquoise waters and protected natural surroundings, it’s one of the best beaches in Corfu for families, relaxed swimmers, divers and travelers looking to escape the crowds.

7. Ampelaki Beach - private paradise.

If you want to make it more private, hit Ampelaki Beach. From the parking spot near Agios Spiridon Beach, take a tiny road up the hill, along the Supermarket and walk for about 5 minutes till the end of the road.

This is a stony beach with exceptionally green, crystal clear water and gets very little crowds.

Ampelaki Beach combines calm swimming conditions with beautiful natural scenery. The place is so beautiful, we decided to stay all day till 7.30pm, when there was nobody on the beach.

Highlights include:

  • Shallow, family-friendly water
  • Ideal for snorkelling – we saw an octopus – the most beautiful sea creature!
  • Calm swimming conditions.

Parking: Huge parking (5 Euros per day) near Agios Spiridon Beach.

My rate: 10/10.

8. Agios Spiridon Beach.

Agios Spiridon Beach is highly rated for its natural beauty and calm, scenic bay. The beach is very easily accessible, quite long with plenty of space, located along the main road near a huge parking spot (5 Euro/per day).

What to expect:

  • Pleasant, sandy beach
  • Can get very busy by midday during peak summer, when tour buses arrive.
  • Vibe: Relaxed and mostly geared toward families, nature lovers, and couples.
  • There are convenient on-site tavernas for lunch, as well as mini-markets.

My rate: 6/10.

9. Chalikounas Beach & Cedar Forest.

Chalikounas Beach stretches for several kilometres along the island’s southwest coast. This beach feels completely different from Corfu’s famous coves and cliff-backed bays.

I highly recommend spending a day hiking the Cedar Forest and protected Korission Lagoon (the lake). There are no dramatic cliffs or hidden caves here—just open horizons, rolling dunes, and the sound of waves breaking along one of the longest beaches in Corfu.

Parking: Plenty of parking spots near the beach entrance.

Facilities: Tiny beach bars, relaxed atmosphere, spacious, and showers available.

May rate: 5/10 (it’s a lovely beach, but compared to heaven crystal clear beach, cave spots, it’s not that spectacular).

Chalikounas Beach - best beaches in Corfu.

The beach is known for:

  • Long sandy shoreline
  • Stunning sunset views
  • Natural sand dunes
  • Excellent kitesurfing and windsurfing conditions
  • Proximity to Korission Lagoon, one of Corfu’s most important nature reserves.

10. Marathias Beach - the sparkling sunset.

We stayed near the beach, and I have to say this is my favourite spot in the whole Corfof u!

Marathias Beach is on the top of the best beaches in Corfu and great choice if you are looking for soft golden sand, crystal-clear water, and enough space to spread out without feeling crowded.

It’s located on the island’s southwest coast, it is popular with both locals and visitors but never feels as packed as some of Corfu’s more famous hotspots.

What makes Marathias stand out is its combination of natural beauty and comfort. You get a wide sandy shoreline, excellent swimming conditions, beach tavernas, and spectacular sunsets—all without losing the relaxed atmosphere.

The beach stands out for:

  • Most amazing sunsets
  • The greatest local restaurants in the whole of Corfu! They have delicious food at great prices.
  • Space and comfort

Highlights include:

  • Soft golden sand
  • Clear, shallow water near the shore
  • Plenty of space even in summer
  • Family-friendly swimming conditions
  • Traditional seaside tavernas
  • Stunning west-coast sunsets

Unlike many of Corfu’s pebble beaches, you can comfortably walk barefoot, which was amazing.

11. Mesovrika Beach - Antipaxos - the Caribbean!

There’s one boat tour you need to take to see the most impossible turquoise water in the Ionian Islands – to Antipaxos (the smaller island near Corfu) and Mesovrika Beach.

The beach remains one of the most spectacular and least-visited beaches on this tiny island.

Mesovrika feels more like a remote Caribbean cove than a typical Greek beach. It’s the kind of place where the sea becomes the main attraction.

TOP TOUR (I checked every available tour to Antipaxod and this one is highly rated compared to other tours, and it is organised in a really great way!)

From Corfu Island: Antipaxos & Paxos Blue Caves Boat Cruise

What makes it special:

  • Crystal-clear turquoise water
  • White pebble shoreline
  • Incredible snorkeling conditions
  • Fewer visitors than nearby Voutoumi
  • Dramatic coastal scenery
  • A truly remote island atmosphere

Getting to Mesovrika Beach:

The most common way to reach Antipaxos is by:

  • Boat from Paxos
  • Organized day cruises
  • Private boat rentals
