The colonial city of Granada in Nicaragua has a number of places that are absolutely worth exploring. One of the best ways to explore the region is renting a bicycle to reach islets of Granada in the Nicaragua Lake.

What to do in Granada in Nicaragua?

We’ve been told by the locals that traveling to the islets of Granada on your won is dangerous and. That it’s better to do it with an organized trip.

We still did it ourselves and we didn’t find it dangerous at all while biking around. On the way we met a number of people selling organized trips around the islands. This was probably the reson they don’t recommend travelers going alone, but they encourage you instead to buy an organized trip.

The Nicaragua Lake turned to be quite common and a little poluted attraction. Despite that it was a really great day out and you will still be able to see wonderful wildlife, wild horses swimming in the lake and exotic birds.

Granada is the oldest city on the continent and the most developed tourist destination in Nicaragua. Firstly for its colonial architecture, amazing churches and cathedrals like tower at Iglesia de la Merced.

Secondly Granda can also be a starting point for Masaya Volcano night trip. This is one of the most spectaculat volcano adventure in this part of the world. Masaya is an active volcano and night trip allow you to discover a spectacular scenery of flowing lava.

Laguna de Apoyo – located just few kilometers outside of Granada city is a very nice idea if you’d like to do some swimming and scuba diving.
